Our Commitment to Health: What You Need to Know about Indoor Classes
There is no doubt that COVID-19 continues to be a threat to our community and our world. As such, we take it very seriously. Our goal is to maintain the cleanest, healthiest environment possible for our students and their families. We know that there are several in the CLSK family who will be unable to attend indoor classes for the foreseeable future. We want everyone to know that we will continue to offer online classes indefinitely. We will also try to hold our Saturday morning classes outdoors for as long as the weather will allow us to train comfortably. But we also know there are many of you who are ready and waiting to return to indoor classes. We are happy to say that our dojo has met the New York State Department of Health requirements for reopening for indoor training!
As we slowly begin the process of resuming some indoor classes as part of our schedule, we wanted to provide you with an update on the items and practices we have put in place at the dojo to keep everyone as healthy as possible:
--All classes are limited in number according to our capacity and physical distancing guidelines.
--Students must pre-register for all indoor and outdoor classes. No one will be allowed to attend an in-person class without pre-registering.
--When pre-registering for classes, you will acknowledge your compliance with the health screening items outlined on the registration form: checking temperatures at home, being symptom-free, not traveling to a state on the New York State Travel Ban list, etc. These conditions are specified on each registration form and should be read and adhered to very carefully.
--All students and staff must wear an appropriate cloth face covering at all times when participating in an indoor class.
--During outdoor classes, staff are required to wear a face covering at all times, while students may remove their face covering once they settle into their appropriately-distanced training area.
--For the time being, indoor spectators will be allowed only for very young students who may need assistance with the rest room. Indoor spectators will be limited to one parent/guardian per student (no siblings or other family members, please), and overall numbers will be limited by proper distancing protocols as well as our State-dictated capacity limits.
--Students will be asked to arrive at least 5 minutes before class begins, and to depart within 5 minutes of the class ending. Please be prepared to arrive and depart on time. Students are asked to arrive already wearing their uniform to help reduce the time needed to get ready for class.
--If you are late to class, we cannot guarantee that you will be admitted to class.
--In addition to the thorough cleaning protocols we have always followed, we are cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces many times throughout the day (and always in between classes) with CDC-approved cleaners proven to destroy the virus.
--We have installed no-touch hand sanitizer dispensers on each floor. As recommended by the CDC, all hand sanitizer in use at the dojo contains at least 60% alcohol.
--As required by New York State, the air filters in the dojo heating and air conditioning system have been upgraded to MERV-13--a high-density medical-grade filter capable of filtering out small airborne particulates (like those that carry COVID-19). In addition, windows will remain open during class whenever reasonably possible to allow for even more fresh air exchange.
For those of you who plan to attend indoor classes: before returning to indoor classes, we ask that you read, understand, and sign the waiver found at this link: https://forms.gle/KLfEKwoxJmfsYEfC9
We thank you all for your careful attention to how we may all take care of each other. We are committed to doing our best to continue to offer you a safe, healthy environment that allows everyone the opportunity to continue to grow. If you have any questions, please let us know. We look forward to continuing to share in your martial arts journey!

"My training has been more rewarding than I ever could have imagined. I started with only curiosity and no experience. The classes are challenging yet flexible and supportive and always fun. I was welcomed into this wonderfully diverse group with open arms. I only wish I had started sooner!"

"Seido Karate has really helped me in my everyday life. Not only physically, but also mentally. It has taught me to focus on the task at hand, and to respect and be kind to others. I have made so many friends and I am glad to be on this journey with them."
Ben M., Youth 2nd Degree Black Belt
"After the encouragement of my kids and the Sensei's, I joined CLSK in my late forties. I learned that Seido is a Karate for everyone. I expected the physical conditioning and self defense, but what I continue to gain is so much more. Seido is a community, friendship, and spirit that has improved and enriched many aspects of my life."
Ellen Q., Adult Advanced Brown Belt
